Paul Carder, Head of Research

Paul is the head of the West Yorkshire R&D team. The department provides expertise, advice, enabling tools, capacity and delivery in the areas of clinical effectiveness, evidence and knowledge transfer. The Research service works to deliver nationally recognised studies that have been adopted onto the NIHR portfolio. In addition Paul works with academics to bring research funded projects into the local health economy, attracting both national and EU grants.

Stella Johnson, Research Manager

Stella plays an essential role in supporting the West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) with its statutory duties and actively contributes to research activity, bringing an innovative and business-focused approach to her role. Stella works with local and national organisations including Universities, NHS England, Public Health England, the Department of Health and other health and social care providers to secure high quality research funding. 

Rebecca Harper, Research Governance Lead 

As Research Governance Lead Rebecca supports the organisation to meet statutory requirements for research, taking the lead to oversee and support the governance and feasibility aspects of studies. She also supports researchers to navigate their way through the governance process.

Rose Dewey, Research Management Lead

Rose has been with the Research team since October 2013, initially getting involved with an EU-funded research project, Learning Layers. Rose then spent years supporting research governance, before taking on the role of Research Management Lead in September 2018.

Sameera Ali, Research Delivery Officer

Sameera supports GP practices across West Yorkshire to participate in research. She helps to identify appropriate projects from the NIHR portfolio for practices to take part in, supporting members of study teams by providing advice on recruitment sites. Sameera acts as a link between study teams and GP practices and ensures research is taking place safely and efficiently.

Imran Mohammed, Research Co-ordinator 

Imran’s role is to provide support to the research team on various projects, assisting in data acquisition, analysis and reporting; moreover, assisting in knowledge transfer and conveying information, supporting the team wherever necessary. Imran previously worked at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and has experience of working with IT and safeguarding in a nursing home environment.

Gemma Doran, Research Engagement Officer
