Children with Anxiety Disorders in Primary Care: the views of General Practitioners II
The CCG is asking as many GPs as possible to complete this short survey (10 minutes), in order to contribute to this piece of research funded by the National Institute for Health Research and sponsored by The University of Reading about Childhood Anxiety Disorders from a GP perspective.
Anxiety disorders are among the most common mental health problems in childhood, and represent a significant risk for ongoing mental health problems. Effective treatments for childhood anxiety disorders have been established, however few affected children access evidence based treatments. As General Practitioners are often the first port of call for parents who have concerns about their child's mental health, the key aim of the study is to conduct a systematic and representative evaluation of the barriers that GPs face with regards to management of childhood anxiety disorders in primary care. In order to do this, a nationally representative sample of GPs in England will be surveyed regarding their experiences of barriers to the management of childhood anxiety disorders. This will allow the quantification of barriers that GPs are facing, and provide an in-depth examination of the contexts in which these difficulties occur.
As well as the benefits included in the attached invitation letter, practices will receive a payment of £20.00 per GP completion, following verification from the study team to the NIHR CRN that the practice has completed the questionnaires. The NIHR CRN Yorkshire and Humber will contact your practice manager to arrange payment of the questionnaire.
