University of Bradford in key role to revolutionise dementia care research

'The University of Bradford is to take part in a major research project that will enable expert researchers to create 'Centres of Excellence' that focus on key priority areas within dementia care research and boost the number of researchers working in the dementia care field.'

ASPIRE: First public sharing of research findings

The ASPIRE study team is holding an event on 7th June to present research findings from the study which took place across West Yorkshire.

The event will be held at the Leeds Doubletree Hilton hotel.

General practices were randomised to a support packing targeting one of the following areas:

  • Achievement of treatment goals in diabetes;

  • Anticoagulation for atrial fibrillation;

  • Blood pressure control in patients at high risk of cardiovascular disease;

  • Risky prescribing, particularly of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

The team's presentation of findings will answer:

  • Did ASPIRE make any difference to patient care and outcomes?

  • Was ASPIRE worth the time and money?

  • What did practice staff think about ASPIRE?

Electronic Frailty Index wins national healthcare award

'A system that can identify people with frailty from electronic health records has won a national award, in recognition of its innovative approach to the care of older people.

The Electronic Frailty Index (eFI) helps primary care providers identify older people who face an increased risk of care home admission, hospitalisation and mortality by using information within the patient’s electronic health record.'
